On target production

Target Corporation’s Marketing Partner Fair brings together the company’s partners from around the world: 1500 vendor attendees, from Converse to Smucker’s to PepsiCo. It’s a big deal.

Working with the superstore’s super-fast timeline and detailed designs, Star provided a 100 ft. wide by 25 ft. high scenic backdrop and modular stage solution for the center stage, a giant trade exhibit area, and four other rooms for Target’s Grocery Summit, all taking place simultaneously in the same facility. With some very clever planning from our production folks, we were able to set the entire event in one day.

Typically, it would take two full eight-hour rigging shifts to assemble and install the event’s giant walls. Instead, the Star team devised a way to accomplish it in six hours. When the head rigger from the convention center saw the walls come in, he remarked that it was the best pre-rig he’d ever seen. Heck, we were just trying to stay on target.
