Technology enhances audience experience

Emerson knows technology. A global manufacturing and technology company, Emerson offers a wide range of products and services in the areas of network power, process management, industrial automation, climate technologies tools and storage businesses. During our 12 year partnership with the company, we’ve often been asked to push our own creative applications of exhibit technology.

For example, at the 2010 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), the world’s largest oil and gas sector trade show, we created two simulated control rooms—one that represented offshore drilling conditions, and one that represented onshore drilling conditions. Webcam feeds between the two rooms gave audiences the opportunity to watch various hypothetical emergencies, all of which were averted thanks to Emerson technology. Elsewhere in the exhibit, display pods highlighted Emerson technologies. Some communicated wirelessly on the trade show floor to demonstrate capabilities.

At Emerson Exchange, a yearly event for Emerson customers and trade partners, we created an interactive demonstration of their “Human-Centered Design” initiative, using touch-screens for storytelling and to solicit opinions from customers. Including an interactive game that pitted guests against each other as they raced to solve a real-world factory problem and a Twitter feed (way back in the early days of social media) that brought the technology buzz on the Exchange show floor to the rest of the world.
